Midcentury Modern Arapahoe Acres Ranch Listed by Chuck Brown

This 1956 mid-century modern home at 1430 E. Cornell Place was designed in the Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian style and is located in Arapahoe Acres, the first post-WWII subdivision on the National Register of Historic Places. It was just listed by Chuck Brown for $1,300,000. The home features 1,837 square feet of impeccable architecture, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a 1-car attached garage. Perfectly situated on a quiet street in the interior of the neighborhood, it is close to Denver University, shops on South Broadway and the stores at Riverpoint. You’ll love the stained and exposed beams and beveled tongue and groove wood ceiling throughout the house and the completely restored kitchen with mahogany cabinets and modern appliances. The primary bathroom has a large jetted tub, birds-eye maple cabinets and heated terrazzo floor. The large TV/office room showcases a Tennessee Blue stone floor, a window wall with mahogany framing and a built-in mahogany desk and bookshelves. Completing this special home is the custom designed landscaping in the front and back yards. The entire property is the end result of a 24-year restoration endeavor by the current owners. Own a piece of Colorado history! Take a narrated video tour and see more pictures at www.ArapahoeAcresHome.info.  It has a 7.5-kW solar system, too! Call Chuck Brown at 303-885-7855 to arrange a private showing.

Just Listed: Solar-Powered Home in Arvada’s Geos Community

I have written many times about Arvada’s Geos Community, where all 25 units, like this detached single-family home at 15062 W. 59th Place, were built as all-electric homes, solar powered, designed to passive solar standards, using the latest heat pump technology, and  super-insulated with CERVs to maximize indoor air quality. The garages are wired for charging EVs. Built in 2017, the idea was to be a model for the kind of construction needed to reduce the carbon footprints of residential housing. I have done my part to publicize and promote it, but I have yet to see a metro Denver developer adopt this proven style of home construction. Indeed, the developer who purchased the adjoining land to build 130 “Geos Community” homes is not following the all-electric, geothermal, heat pump example of these original homes — and they’re selling those new homes at a higher price per square foot than these homes have sold for. Bottom-line, this home — just listed for only $725,000 — is the only true all-electric Geos home you can buy, and it’s priced to sell! Energy costs over the past 12 months averaged $19.91/month, including charging the seller’s EV.        I spell out all the sustainable features of this home in a video tour at www.JeffcoSolarHomes.com, and I’m holding it open this Saturday, April 29th, from 2 to 4pm.

Price Reduced on Your Golden Dream Home

This solar-powered home at 359 Canyon Point Circle was a model home for the Village at Mountain Ridge, the subdivision west of Highway 93 backing to the Mt. Galbraith Park. (There’s a trailhead to the park’s 5 miles of hiking trails within the subdivision.) The seller has made many improvements to the home since buying it in 2002, including a total renovation of the gourmet kitchen and master bathroom, plus adding 11.5 kW of solar panels which meet all the electrical needs of the home. The main-floor deck was also completely rebuilt with composite decking, metal railings and a breakfast bar for enjoying the sunrises over South Table Mountain and the City of Golden, which are visible even from the walk-out basement. A walking path near this home allows children to walk safely to Mitchell Elementary School via a pedestrian bridge that crosses the highway. The listing price was just reduced to $1,545,000. To appreciate all the features of this 4,106-sq.ft. home, take the narrated video tour at www.MountainRidgeHome.com, then come to the open house this Saturday, March 18, noon to 2pm.
